Kent went skiing at Squaw. The first day was a bit rough, but
his instructor Siobhan was very patient. It was hot (the pool was
open at 8000 feet) and he probably had too many clothes. Kent
really didn't want to learn how to turn. He did better when I
came to watch him. And we convinced him that turning was good.
The second day was spectacular. He wanted to hold my poles the
first couple times down the slope (at Northstar). But then he
said he didn't want to touch me and he proceeded to ski all the way
down without falling. We were both pretty happy.
By the end of Sunday, his second full day on the slopes, he was
skiing intermediate slopes. He was loving it. I wanted to leave
early to beat the traffic, but I couldn't leave while he was having so
Two weekends later, we were back at Squaw with my friends Carl (the
Love King) and Paul. Paul was snowboarding so Kent enjoyed
watching that. They knew the runs better so we could be more
adventuresome. But we did try to keep one person between Kent and
the trees. He was fast.
The next day we went to Sugar Bowl. The snow was really slow.
Kent did one flip when he dropped into an ungroomed ditch. He was
surprised but ok.
Tracey helped teach, and we got to see Megan race. Kent
We spent the first part of the year finishing the downstairs room in
the Page Mill house. Kent enjoyed the chance to get dirty (and
some of the cleanup)
The plum tree in back was spectacular. Kent still wants to get
pushed on the swing.
Every chance he gets, Kent likes to put all his train track into one
big layout. He has to find a use for every single piece. He
is getting good at it.
